Kids Martial Arts Classes
Kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes are available in Victor Harbor, for students aged between 6 and 14 years.
“BJJ is great for kids too, my 6 year old daughter loved her first Jiu-Jitsu class with Coach Matt” – Alfonso Alés.
Kids class learning outcomes
Students will learn to passively and actively defend themselves against being attacked and move into a more dominant position where by they can then control their attacker or find a way to disengage and run for help.
They will also learn some basic submissions which will help both to control their attacker and to enjoy Jiu Jitsu long enough that they will become much better at controlling another person.
Creating confident children
The number one benefit for anyone, especially children learning BJJ, is confidence. Also self-control and mindfulness. And of course, the physical activity is great for the body and calming of the mind.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is mostly about safe control of a fight situation. As there are no strikes involved, it is referred to as “The Gentle Art”. This doesn’t mean it is easy. Only that we can train in a realistic way without anyone getting hurt. And therefore be confident in our skills.
All students are made to remember to look after their training partners, so everyone can continue to learn.
All you need to bring to class is comfortable clothes you can move in. Old clothes are good because they may get torn. Children should always bring a large bottle of water, as part of a healthy training routine.
